Dive two began the next day in Verrill Canyon. On this dive, Okeanos Explorer discovered what is considered to be an ideal geological formation for a thriving coral and sponge colony. Sheer rock walls provided the ideal environment to build upon.
Okeanos Explorer discovered evidence of past geological activity. Clay pipes indicated that fluid once flowed underneath the substrate, which formed the sediment pipes. Just like on-shore, the environment here is dynamic and always changing.
